WELCOME TO THE 5TH EDITION OF THE SEA ANGLING CLASSIC 2026

Get ready for the Sea Angling Classic 2026, one of the standout events in the UK sea angling calendar. Taking place 18th – 21st June 2026, this four-day celebration of competitive angling promises exceptional fishing, great camaraderie, and serious prizes on some of the country’s most productive grounds.

Hosted at Premier Marinas, Port Solent, this award-winning marina once again provides the perfect base for the event, proudly acting as the host venue for the competition.

We are delighted to welcome Lowrance as Principal Partner, whose continued support helps elevate the Sea Angling Classic to a truly world-class event. Alongside Lowrance, the competition is supported by leading industry partners and backed by the Angling Trade Association.

The Sea Angling Classic 2026 is more than just a competition it’s a celebration of angling, conservation, and community. This year’s event will also serve as a fundraiser for the charity FreeSpirit of the Sea, supporting their important work in marine conservation, education, and sustainability.

DAILY CASH SWEEPSTAKES

Each competition day features daily cash sweepstakes, giving anglers additional opportunities to win cash prizes throughout the event - not just at the final leaderboard.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  • Minimum 2 anglers per boat, maximum 4
  • Open to participants aged 10 years and above (must be 10 on the first day of on-site registration)
  • Anglers aged 10–15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
  • Participants aged 16 and over may compete without a guardian but cannot be designated as Boat Captain until aged 18
  • This event is open to recreational anglers only - Anyone who currently operates or has operated a commercially coded angling charter boat within 25 miles of Portsmouth Spinnaker Tower in the five years leading up to the event is not permitted to enter the Recreational Boat competition
  • All anglers must hold appropriate insurance
  • A valid VHF licence must be held by either the Captain or a crew member
  • All competitors must sign the on-site registration form confirming acceptance of final rules, terms & conditions, and any sanitary measures

Environmental Commitment

All participating anglers must:

  • Complete at least one local cleanup prior to the event
  • Post photographic evidence on social media

If a participant fails to complete the cleanup, a £50 contribution must be made to support FreeSpirit of the Sea’s youth, education, and sustainability initiatives in order to participate.

EVENT DETAILS AT A GLANCE

  • Rod and line, catch, photograph & release competition
  • Maximum 4 rods per boat - One rod may be set up without terminal tackle
  • Maximum 3 hooks per rod (treble hooks count as one)
  • Bait and artificial lures permitted
  • One spare rod may be carried onboard (no terminal tackle)

Target Species

The longest three fish per species per day will count:

  • Tope
  • Smoothhound
  • Rays
  • Bass
  • Black Bream
  • The combined length of all species forms the daily score
  • Day 1 and Day 2 scores are added together to determine the overall winner
  • Fish must meet minimum legal size requirements

Only registered competitors may be onboard competing vessels during competition hours, except approved media or helpers assisting disabled anglers.

COST OF ENTRY

  • £150 per angler (minimum of two anglers per boat)
  • £75 per junior angler (ages 10–15 on the first day of registration)
