A Taste of Palestine: Food, Culture and Storytelling

Sat 8 Aug 2026 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM PDT James Bay United Church, V8V 1S1

Sacred Cuisine, led by Palestinian chef Izzeldin Bukhari, transforms a multiple-course vegetarian (or vegan) meal into an act of collective connection, focusing specifically on Palestinian heritage, the ongoing conflict, and Palestinian food while sharing the flavors, stories, and traditions behind the dishes.

This dinner is taking place at James Bay United Church; 511 Michigan St.  Please access the Lower Hall where the dinner will take place from the back patio.

In Izzeldin's own words:

"Rich in nutritious ingredients and flavorful spices that are bound to the land, Palestinian food has made a deep impact on Mediterranean cuisine at large.

We are home to dishes that reflect our ancestors’ deep understanding of their soil, their ingredients, and their homeland.

Our aim is to keep that tradition alive, despite the relentless political and cultural pressures threatening its existence, and share that with the world."
