Gua Sha Specifics for the Upper Body: Practical Application; 5-hour CE

Prerequisite required: Must take Gua Sha Assisted Massage prior to taking this workshop.

Gua Sha Specifics for the Upper Body is going to take you deeper into the many ways you can utilize your Gua Sha tool and techniques in the massage session. In Gua Sha Specifics for the Upper Body you will learn how to address specific areas of concern for your clients including how to:

• Reduce Fine Lines and Wrinkles in the Face
• Eliminate Puffiness in and around the face with lymphatic work
• Alleviate jaw, face and head tension
• Reduce headache and neck pain
• Improve shoulder mobility and improve posture
• Reduce the pain of arthritis in the hands

This workshop will have minimal lecture with the majority of the workshop being discussion, demonstration, and hands-on practice time. Practice time will include prone and supine practice. Please bring your preferred medium, a full set of sheets, bolster and a table (with face cradle) along with any Gua Sha tool you may have purchased and a pen or pencil for taking notes. I will have one type of Gua Sha tool available for purchase for only $5 made of buffalo horn. Please bring cash and they are available on a first come/first served basis before the workshop and on breaks. Please don't feel obligated to bring any tools or even to purchase one from me, you are welcome to borrow one of mine to use during the workshop. I bring a wide variety of shapes and compositions to try in class for your own understanding and practice with the various shapes, sizes and compositions. This course is approve for 5 hours of CE with NCBTMB and is intended only for professional licensed massage therapists who have taken Gua Sha Assisted Massage. Please do not sign up for this course if you are not a licensed massage therapist or have not taken the prerequisite. You do not need to bring a tool to participate. I will have a wide range of tools available to borrow during class—so you can try different materials, sizes, and shapes. I also offer a buffalo horn Gua Sha tool for just $10 (cash only, first come/first served). Tools are available before class and during breaks, but there is no obligation to buy—come ready to learn either way.

**Please Note: This course may not qualify for CE credit in your state. Please consult your state licensing board for verification.

This course will be held in my first floor home studio in South Elgin with all of the amenities of home. You are welcome to bring snacks, use my fridge and/or microwave, refill water etc. I have three treatment tables available, so in most cases, participants will not need to bring their own. However, if registration exceeds that number, I may kindly ask an attendee to bring a table. I will confirm in advance if this is needed.

Cancellation/Refund Policy:
You may cancel up to 2 weeks in advance for a full refund. After that point, no refunds will be given, but you may send someone in your place. Class fees are not transferable to another workshop.

Class Minimum: A minimum of 8 participants is required. If the class is canceled by Sacred Spirit Bodyworks, you will receive a full refund.

Weather Policy:
If class is canceled due to weather, a full refund will be issued. If the class runs and you are unable to attend due to conditions, you’ll receive a refund minus a $35 administrative fee.
