This full moon ceremony will be an extra special one as we are also celebrating Akutu Irkas 65th birthday! We will gather together at the Greenstone Farm and Sanctuary here in Los Angeles on Sunday April 21 at 2:00pm for our normal full moon ceremony. At 4:30, once the talking circle is complete and the ceremony has concluded, we will begin a birthday celebration from 4:30 to 6:30. This will be a pot luck event, so please bring your favorite dish!
The full moon ceremony is a talking and healing circle that takes place in the container of a Taino Spiritual Ceremony. Our aim is to help to decolonize our spiritual beliefs, learn about our culture, support the spiritual and emotional growth of the people through rituals and create a safe place for the coming together of our community. This ceremony is open to everyone.
The centerpiece of the healing circle is reclaiming the practice of "Tending to Our Ancestors", which is the foundation of the Taino spirituality. For this purpose we engage on a Bohutio (shamanic) journey, induced by a spontaneous healing chanting and the sounds of the mayowakan, the Taino traditional drum. The timbre of these sounds will take you to the sacred space for your vision quest with your ancestors. For the talking circle we give the word, to those who feel so inclined, to share the medicine they have received with the members of the community.
The medicine for this Full Moon is "Recalibrating oneself through emotional exploration to gradually uncover deeper insights and wisdom.”
The investment is sliding scale US$37-$47-$57. This event has a maximum capacity of 25 people. Registration for the ceremony will automatically include a registration to Akutus birthday celebration. You will receive an email with the address and additional details in the confirmation receipt email once you've registered your ticket.
Doors open at 1:30pm. Please be punctual, as the ceremony will start promptly at 2:00pm.
