National Emergency Briefing Film Screening and Discussion

Fri 4 Sep 2026 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM Winterslow Village Hall, SP5 1PQ

Several Winterslow community groups are joining to host one of over a thousand screenings of the National Emergency Briefing's film:

What is happening with climate and nature, and what does it mean for everyday life in the UK and for us locally

Join us for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing - an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:

🌧️ Extreme weather
🍞 Food security
🏥 Health
💷 Cost of living

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.

A trailer for the film is at:   youtube.com/watch?v=9tLUnWHkGG4

Doors will open at 6:30pm. The evening will start at 7:00pm following a short introduction to the NEB and the film then runs for 50 minutes.

On arrival you will be invited to complete a short on-line questionnaire produced by Bath University (Please bring an I-phone or equivalent f you have one!) and there is a second questionnaire for completion after you have seen the film. Bath University are supporting the NEB's evaluation of the screenings.

Display stands (see below) will provide information on some local voluntary groups that you may review while waiting or at the end.

The screening will be followed by a discussion of our reaction to the film and possible responses, including what it means for our community and what we can do locally, additional to the NEB's concluding requests. We expect the discussion will conclude by 21:00.

Hopefully the post screening discussion will generate interest in discovering existing opportunities for actively do something that addresses the diverse issues raised:  If you are a member of an existing organisation that already does so please consider bringing along a small table mounted display that will enable audience members to find out about it and perhaps support you - If so please let Mike (dapice.mike@btinternet.com) or one of the team know so we may help you set up before the doors open and, if time permits in the post screening discussion, invite you to briefly introduce your groups aims.

PLEASE NOTE that while the version we will screen has "bad language" bleeped out  it covers the dire, evidence-based threats of climate and nature breakdown to UK national security, food systems, and health described as "sobering" and "alarming" and consequently the film has a 16+ rating. Please do not bring younger children to view it.

Seats are free but limited so please book in advance.

Bring a friend, neighbor or family member: everyone is welcome.

NB: Should you not be able to get along to this screening you can find others in the Salisbury area and nationwide on the NEB's Screening Map at their website nebriefing.org/screening-map
