The Return of Flanders and Swann
The Return of Flanders and Swann
Need help?
Our Flanders and Swann evening last July was such a success that we have persuaded our latter day Michael Flanders and Donald Swann, Michael Mates and William Godfree to return to reprise some of their favourite songs - which could include any of the following:
The Gnu
Design for Living
The Gas Man Cometh
The Sloth
The Warthog
Ill Wind
The Reluctant Cannibal
A Song of Reproduction
To Kokoraki
Misalliance
Transport of Delight
Slow Train
A Song of the Weather
or - of course - The Hippopotamus
SUPPER:
Our Coronation Chicken, Prawn Cocktail and Egg Mayonnaise 1950s supper last year went down so well that those dishes might just get another outing. Included in the price of your ticket.
TICKET 'PRICE':
Because we are not a public venue we cannot 'sell' tickets. Instead we ask you to make a donation (suggested minimum £30 per ticket) which will enable us to pay our musicians a reasonable fee and contribute a small amount towards the cost of supper and wine
William Godfree and Michael Mates:
William is a composer, an accomplished accompanist , organist, conductor - and cabaret artist!
For the last 25 years he has enjoyed a fruitful partnership with the Hampshire MP Michael Mates. Mates and Godfree road-tested some Flanders and Swann songs at a fund-raising dinner at Farnham Castle in September 1995, and subsequently put together a full-length entertainment entitled ‘Memories of Flanders and Swann’ which made its debut in Winchester the year after. They have now performed the show some 35 times the length and breadth of the country.
