We are delighted that Nathaniel and La Pompadour, his enchanting French inspired spinet, are returning to Hampstead Lane for another visit in February.

PROGRAMME:

For this evening La Pompadour was invited to chose the programme – and she has decided that she and Nathaniel will play music from her glory days at the court of King Louis XV.

SUPPER:

The concert will be followed by a buffet which might also have been served at the court at Versailles

TICKET 'PRICE':

Because we are not a public venue we cannot 'sell' tickets. Instead we ask you to make a donation - suggested minimum £35 per ticket.
Of this £5 from each ticket will go to the Camden Music TrustThe Trust supports music making in schools in Camden and children who might not otherwise have access to instruments or any sort of music education.
The remaining £30 enables us to pay our musicians a reasonable fee with any surplus going towards the cost of supper and wine.

ABOUT NATHANIEL:

Nathaniel is delighted to be returning to perform for the Highgate Salon series. He commissioned his spinet (made and decorated by Andrew Garlick), the delightful instrument he’ll be performing on tonight in 2023, as a means of bringing to life the intimate musical experiences of the 18th century salons.

Nathaniel Mander, ambassador for the harpsichord, is widely regarded as one of the leading harpsichordists of his generation. He is known for his poetic interpretations, expressive depth, and dedication to bringing the instrument to new audiences Through his studies in the UK and Europe he has developed a very expressive, personal and authentic touch.

At a young age Nathaniel was entranced by the unique sound of the harpsichord, its crystalline voice and archaic clarity set him on a path to become one of today’s most dynamic interpreters of early keyboard music.

Beyond performance, Nathaniel is also a teacher and passionate communicator. He has created teaching videos (for the Japanese Early Music organization Académie de Cour) to bring his love for early keyboard instruments to wider audiences. He holds masterclasses, adjudicates competitions, and is noted for his warm, light touch in introducing listeners to the contexts and colours of the music he plays. His art is not just in reviving the past, but in making it live now.

Nathaniel has recently had the great pleasure of performing at Windsor Castle in a private recital for Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh.
