The Voices of San Lazzaro with Lucine Musaelian and Nathan Giorgetti

Salon Music aficionados who came to our evening with the Bellot Ensemble last January will already have enjoyed the singing and playing of Armenian-American singer Lucine Musaelian. And I got to enjoy her again at the Islington Festival in July in the Little Angel theatre with viol partner Nathan Giorgetti. Together they interwove the music of 17th century Venice with that of the Armenian monks who, since 1717, have occupied the island of San Lazzaro in the Venetian lagoon. 

And I enjoyed it so much that I persuaded them both to bring their viols to Hampstead Lane. 

PROGRAMME

Songs by Orlando di Lasso, Settimia Caccini, Claudio Monteverdi, Barbara Strozzi and Tarquinio Merula will intertwine with Armenian traditional songs and melodies.

SUPPER:

The concert will be followed by a buffet supper - which just might have flavours of 17th century Venice......

TICKET 'PRICE':

Because we are not a public venue we cannot 'sell' tickets. Instead we ask you to make a donation - suggested minimum £35 per ticket.
Of this, £5 from each ticket will go to the Camden Music Trust. The Trust supports music in Camden schools with particular emphasis on children who might not otherwise have access to instruments or music lessons.
The remaining £30 enables us to pay our musicians a reasonable fee with any surplus going towards the cost of supper and wine.

ABOUT THE PLAYERS:

Intesa Duo is a duo for voice and viol formed by Lucine Musaelian and Nathan Giorgetti, dedicated to exploring the rich relationship between voice  and viol through self-accompanied performance. 

Intesa was formed in 2023 at the Royal Academy of Music. The ensemble’s  name, an Italian word meaning “understanding” or “meeting of minds”,  reflects the collaborative ethos at the heart of their work. Their  programmes place folk and early music repertoire side by side, bringing  together European and Armenian traditions through narrative and  self-accompanied performance.
