Les Revolutionnaires: Music, Drama, and the Glittering Spark of Dissent

Ellen McLaughlin, actress

Aya Hamada, harpsichord

Ancien Régime splendor wove thinkers, playwrights, and composers into a magnificent tapestry that often cloaked flashes of resistance. In this original interdisciplinary program, legendary actress Ellen McLaughlin joins forces with critically acclaimed harpsichordist Aya Hamada, alternating incendiary wordsmiths and provocateur tunesmiths from the dawn of an age of upheaval.

Music by de la Guerre, Duphly, and Rameau. Texts selected from works of Beaumarchais, Corneille, du Châtelet, Molière, and Voltaire.
