A super-rare rare Hits and Deep Cuts set from Europe’s finest tribute to R.E.M. – fresh back from recent Australian and German tours.

The First Act will have an acoustic focus, running the full gamut from lesser-known tracks like Swan Swan H all the way through to international megahits like Nightswimming.

This will be followed by an electric Second Act in a similar vein, running from semi-obscure gems right through to bangers including Losing My Religion and The One I Love.

This is only the second time that the band have played this Hits and Deep Cuts setlist. It’s an absolute privilege to bring it to Saltburn and we look forward to welcoming R.E.M. fans from far and wide.

If you haven’t seen them before, Stipe represent R.E.M. done properly - this isn’t fancy dress or cruise-ship hits-only nostalgia.

They lock into what made R.E.M. so important in the first place: sharp songs, chiming guitars, and that slightly off-centre emotional pull. No overacting, no karaoke histrionics. Just the right balance of drive and restraint, in the way the originals always made understatement feel like a superpower.

Richard Southern’s vocals reference Michael Stipe of course, but without slipping into parody - it’s expressive, heart-stirring and occasionally opaque.

The show is a reminder that R.E.M.’s catalogue was always about tone, tension and tunes that sneak up on you then refuse to leave. In short: great songs, played with taste and conviction, by people who get why they mattered in the first place.
