Generative AI for Healthcare Professionals: A Practical Introduction

Tue 28 Jul 2026 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM 1 Wimpole Street, W1G 0AE

By the end of this day, you'll understand how large language models actually work, know what the clinical evidence says about using them, and have built a working tool using AI agents. No technical background needed.

Rated 4.88/5 by over 100 healthcare professionals. 97% said the technical level was "just right."

This event has been accredited by the Royal Society of Medicine for 5 CPD credits

What you'll leave with

  • A clear picture of how tools like ChatGPT are built, and why that shapes the answers they give.
  • A grounding in what the research shows: where AI helps, where it doesn't, and what to watch out for.
  • Something you've built yourself with an AI agent. Previous participants have made clinical decision aids, educational games, and apps.
  • A view on the bigger questions, shaped by small-group discussion with peers from across healthcare.

What previous attendees said

  • Really good level, not too complex, not too easy. Good examples, good flow, good build up. Great to combine theory and practice.
  • Small group setting, clear presentations, and very engaging speaker. Loved how it was hands on, and we got to use an AI agent as well.

Who it's for

Healthcare professionals of all backgrounds, clinical and non-clinical, any level of experience. Previous attendees have included hospital consultants, GPs, surgeons, nurses, biochemists, NHS managers, and medical students. The group is capped at 25 so there's room for real discussion.

The facilitator

Dr Justin Healy is a GP and hospital doctor at UCLH, and he leads several generative AI studies at the UCL Institute of Health Informatics. His research focuses on how these tools perform in real clinical settings. He has a background in public health and medical ethics.
