Slow Ways is a major national initiative to create a national network of walking routes connecting all of Great Britain’s towns and cities as well as thousands of villages. Using existing paths, ways, trails and roads, people can use Slow Ways routes to walk or wheel between neighbouring settlements.

The proposed Slow Ways route between Maldon and Burnham has not yet been added to the national network because it requires more reviews. The town councils of Maldon and Burnham have jointly committed to getting a route added to the network as soon as possible.

You can help make this happen by coming on this walk! Senior officials from both towns will take part in the walk from either end, meeting on the Dengie Peninsula in Althorne. You can either choose to walk the whole route of 12.3 miles or just one section, returning to the start by public transport.
