Experience the extraordinary sense of space and tranquillity found around Tollesbury’s marshes on this memorable circular walk beneath some of the biggest skies in Essex. From Woodrolfe Road, the route heads out across Tollesbury Wick and continues through the remarkable coastal landscape surrounding RSPB Old Hall Marshes, with its grazing marsh, saltmarsh, reedbeds, creeks and brackish fleets. An expert from Bird Aware Essex Coast will help you identify the waders, waterbirds and other wildlife encountered along the way, while explaining why the Essex coast provides such important feeding and resting places for birds. You will also discover how everyone can enjoy this beautiful landscape while helping to protect its wildlife from disturbance. Expansive views across the marshes and shoreline, fascinating glimpses of Tollesbury’s coastal heritage and numerous birdwatching opportunities make this a rewarding walk for experienced enthusiasts and curious beginners alike.
