Follow a fascinating trail from the heart of Maldon to historic Beeleigh Abbey, combining riverside scenery, local heritage and beautiful gardens. Leaving the town past the famous Maldon Salt works, the route follows the River Chelmer alongside the community-managed Chelmer & Blackwater Nature Reserve and Maldon Golf Club. At Beeleigh, discover the spectacular meeting of four waterways, the remains of the Victorian steam mill and picturesque Beeleigh Falls House before arriving at the Abbey. There’ll be time to explore the gardens and enjoy welcome tea and cake. The return route visits the peaceful Leech Memorial Garden and follows the old path once used by the canons of Beeleigh Abbey, passing the medieval Blue Boar Hotel and All Saints’ distinctive triangular tower before returning to Maldon.
