Discover the seasonal character and surprising stories of Hazeleigh on this rewarding autumn walk. Maldon Wick Nature Reserve follows the distinctive course of the former Maldon West to Woodham Ferrers railway, now transformed into a valuable green corridor. In the grounds of historic Hazeleigh Hall, see the surviving gravestones of the lost church of St Nicholas. The principal highlight will be an extended guided exploration of Hazeleigh Wood with Maureen Bissell, revealing some of the natural features and autumn interest that make this secluded woodland so special. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to try using a traditional pole lathe to turn wood. The walk also includes an optional lunch and refreshments at the recently refurbished Royal Oak.
