Discover the atmospheric landscapes of Steeple Creek on a special walk led by renowned, award-winning local photographer James Crisp. With its sweeping skies, winding creeks, saltmarsh, seawalls and views towards Osea Island, this tranquil corner of the Dengie offers wonderful opportunities for landscape photography. James will share practical guidance on using autumn light, choosing viewpoints and composing memorable images. You certainly do not need to be a photographer to enjoy the walk, however: its beautiful coastal scenery and fascinating local stories offer plenty for everyone. Along the way, hear about the former Stansgate Priory and the Benn family, Marconi Sailing Club and Osea Island’s colourful history. The walk also includes part of the long-distance St Peter’s Way and passes Steeple’s unusual Victorian church, built partly with materials rescued from its medieval predecessor. Afterwards, there will be an optional lunch at the Star.

Start time: 10:00am

Distance: 6.7 miles

Time: 3 hours 30 minutes, including regular photography stops. The optional lunch takes place afterwards.
