EVENING ENTERTAINMENT The Essex Ways: An Evening with James Lawrence (Man About Country)

Join Essex storyteller, adventurer and historian James Lawrence—better known as Man About Country—for an unforgettable evening of film, folklore and conversation. In 2025, James completed a 400km journey around Essex, uncovering the landscapes, characters, legends and hidden stories that reveal the county in all its surprising richness. Following a screening of The Essex Ways, James will share entertaining tales from the road and answer questions. Presented jointly with the Maldon Festival, the evening coincides with publication of James’s new book, The Essex Ways, with an opportunity to purchase a copy and have it personally signed afterwards.

Venue – Maldon Town Hall, Market Hill, Maldon, CM9 4RL.

Timing – 7:00pm start.

Parking – Nearby town-centre parking is available at White Horse Lane, CM9 5QP, and Butt Lane, CM9 5HD. Parking charges apply, so please check the signs and ensure you have paid for sufficient time.
