Gelli-Plate Workshop: Printing from Nature (Without a Press)
10:00am – 4:00pm

Join us for a relaxed, inspiring day of creativity by the riverside as we explore the beautiful and accessible art of gelli-plate printing—no press required.

We’ll begin the morning with a warm welcome and cups of tea or freshly brewed coffee as Seana introduces this wonderfully versatile printmaking technique. You’ll see how simple, natural materials can be transformed into layered, expressive prints using a gelli plate—no drawing skills needed.

This workshop is perfect for complete beginners as well as more experienced artists. Gelli printing is intuitive and playful, allowing you to create beautiful, detailed, one-of-a-kind artwork without any prior experience. Truly—no drawing required!

From there, we’ll head out for a gentle stroll along the river and salt marsh, scissors in hand, gathering grasses, leaves, and textures that catch your eye. This foraging element connects the creative process directly to the landscape, making each print deeply personal.

Back in the studio, you’ll have your own gelli plates and rollers, along with access to a full spectrum of acrylic paints and a variety of papers. With guidance and encouragement throughout, you’ll experiment freely—building colour, pattern, and texture in a way that is both playful and surprisingly meditative.

Gelli printing is wonderfully forgiving—there are no mistakes, only discoveries. As we like to say: “It will all be all right in the end, and if it isn't all right, it isn't the end.” A supportive atmosphere (and a glass of wine later in the day, if you wish) helps quiet that inner critic and allows your creativity to flow.

A simple vegetarian lunch is included, (or feel free to bring your own) along with wine, teas, coffees, and biscuits served throughout the day to keep you refreshed and inspired.

This is a small, intimate workshop with just 5 participants, ensuring plenty of individual guidance and a calm, friendly environment.

All materials are provided. All abilities are very welcome.

Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment
