Our start of the Summer Sundowners series at Salt Marsh Studio is for the birds!
Caveat emptor: Seana is NOT an ornithologist or even an experienced bird-watcher. She's an enthusiastic beginner, keen to learn about all our local birds... and what better way than by drawing and painting them?
We will start our evening with a stroll along the river. Bring your binocs, if you have them! Fingers crossed we'll see some of our feathered friends, but no guarantees.
Then we return to the studio, open a bottle of wine and with a glass in hand, we'll either draw and paint the birds we've seen, or work from photographs of our most beloved and common species, kingfishers, ringed plovers, egrets, starlings, lapwings and more. Seana will demonstrate a number of easy accessible techniques for capturing these in pencil and watercolour.
This links in perfectly with the photography exhibition on the ground floor devoted to the wildlife of the Adur SSSI, which is part of the Adur Art Trail.
There is an optional £7.50 materials fee for a set of Anilinky Brilliant watercolours and a number 10 watercolour brush for you to keep. You can use your own materials if you prefer, but I HIGHLY recommend this set for its high quality, brilliant colours, and great value.
