The blockbuster Broadway hit Hello, Dolly! bursts with humor, romance, high-energy dancing and some of the greatest songs in musical theatre history. The romantic and comic exploits of Dolly Gallagher Levi, turn-of-the-century matchmaker and “woman who arranges things,” have thrilled and entertained audiences for over 60 years: the show earned a whopping ten Tony Awards when it opened in 1964 and spawned many successful revivals, proving to be one of the most enduring musicals of all time.

The Story  In 1900 New York, the middle-aged widow Mrs. Dolly Gallagher Levi has made a name for herself as a matchmaker, purveyor of advice, and professional meddler. A grumpy widower and “well-known half-a-millionaire," Horace Vandergelder, hires Dolly to find him a new wife to help run his feed store in Yonkers. Meanwhile, he has forbidden his niece, Ermengarde, from marrying the artist she loves, Ambrose Kemper. Despite Vandergelder's outdated (even for 1900) views on marriage, Dolly nonetheless finds him intriguing and resolves to marry him herself.

Dolly arranges for Vandergelder to travel to New York City to meet a young widow, Irene Molloy, who owns a lovely hat shop downtown. While Vandergelder is away, his employees Cornelius Hackl and Barnaby Tucker, egged on by Dolly, decide to take an unauthorized sightseeing trip to the city themselves. Dolly leads an expedition of the two men, plus Ermengarde and Ambrose, on a New York City adventure. What could go wrong?

When Cornelius and Barnaby are forced to take refuge in Irene's hat shop to avoid running into their employer on the street, Cornelius and Irene are immediately smitten. A moment later Vandergelder arrives to woo Irene. Chaos ensues. Swooping in just in time to “fix" the mess she created, Dolly distracts Vandergelder and unleashes a riotous chain reaction of conniving subterfuge, mistaken identity, and true romance, culminating in an iconic dance contest-cum-police chase through the elegant Harmonia Gardens restaurant that lands the whole party in jail.

Come to Hello, Dolly! to find out how each character fares in their quest for love!
