Linocut Workshop at Sandon Hall Spring Fair - £35 - 10am until 12:30pm

A nature-led introduction to printmaking with artist Emma Harrington. Join printmaker and art educator Emma Harrington for a relaxed, nature-inspired linocut workshop set within the beautiful grounds of Sandon Hall. Surrounded by spring flora, fresh growth, and the gentle presence of local wildlife, you’ll explore how
the natural world can spark simple, striking designs. This immersive session is perfect for complete beginners as well as those with some printmaking experience who want to try something new in a calm, creative
environment. All materials are provided — just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm.

What You’ll Create & Take Home
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have designed, carved, and hand-printed your own motif onto a sustainably sourced organic cotton tote bag. Your finished bag can be heatfixed at home with an iron and will be handwashable — ready for spring walks, market trips, or everyday use. You’ll also leave with the skills, confidence, and ideas to continue exploring linocut at home or in your own studio.

What We’ll Explore Together:

Introduction to Linocut
Learn the fundamentals of this expressive printmaking technique including tools and materials.

Designing Your Motif
Develop a simple, nature-inspired design using springtime references from the grounds of Sandon Hall: unfurling leaves, petals, seed heads, feathers, or small creatures that catch your eye.

Carving Techniques
Transfer your design onto lino and learn safe, effective carving methods.

Inking & Printing
Ink and print your carved block using vibrant fabric paints. Watch your spring motif
come to life as you print onto your organic cotton tote.
