Sandusky County Public Health, Sandusky County Creating Healthy Communities, Sandusky County Food Council, and Sandusky County Homeless Coalition, is partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio to host a Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) and we’d love for you to join us! All are welcome to join this FREE event.
CAPS is not a game, but a powerful, interactive experience. Food insecurity is just one part of the larger challenge of poverty that many families in Sandusky County face every single day. Unless you’ve lived it, it can be hard to truly understand the impossible choices people must make with time and money— including to pay rent, utilities and necessities or to buy groceries, cover medical prescriptions, and have enough gas to get to work or school.
That’s where CAPS comes in and is designed for:
Elected officials and staff
Community leaders and advocates
Educators and adult students
Faith and civic organizations
Business leaders and employers
Anyone who wants to better understand the challenges neighbors face
Through real-life scenarios and tough financial decisions, participants gain eye-opening insight into what it takes to meet basic needs with limited income and resources. CAPS explores the crossroads of public policy, public infrastructure, structural challenges and opportunities for improvement.
Join us in building awareness, empathy, and action toward a stronger community.
This event is open to the public, so please share with anyone who works to support community members and anyone interested in bringing a CAPS event to their community or business.
