BAY EXPLORERS: DISCOVERING WHITSTABLE'S COASTAL WILDLIFE 🔎

Do you know an 8–16-year-old with a wild side? Then they'd be right at home with our Bay Explorers. From beavers to birds - our Bay Explorers are on the case! Meeting monthly, our Bay Explorers are expert species inspectors - from spotting beaver tracks to identifying ducks, they’ve got local wildlife sussed. 

This month we will be seeing how many birds can we spot around Whitstable Harbour. From familiar gulls to some of our other fascinating coastal visitors, there's plenty to discover!

We'll be joining Bird Wise North Kent for a wildlife exploration around the harbour. We'll get out our binoculars, sharpen our bird identification skills and discover more about the birds that live along our coastline.

Gulls will be a particular focus as we investigate different species, explore their age and plumage differences, and learn the clues that help us identify who's who. We'll also keep our eyes peeled for waders, waterbirds and other coastal visitors!

Along the way, we'll discover more about coastal habitats, bird behaviour and how we can help protect our amazing wildlife.

Spaces are limited to 20 participants aged 8 and over per session.

Details:

• This is a drop-off Saturday club for children aged between 8-16 years old costing £6 for this session. Due to child to staff ratios, we cannot accommodate children under the age of 8.
• We will be starting at the earlier time of 9.30am and finishing slightly earlier than usual at 12.3pm
• Meet at the Quay Shed Education Room, Shed Road, Whitstable Harbour, CT5 1AB. Look out for the Bird Wise Van
• Nearest Car Parking: Gorrell Tank Car Parl,10 Westgate Terrace, Whitstable CT5 1BZ is the nearest car park for longer stays.
• Unfortunately, the venue is not wheelchair accessible as there are stairs leading to the classroom area.

Ticket holders will be provided equipment, refreshment and snack. Participants are asked to bring a packed lunch in a backpack. 

This event will take place outside so please prepare yourself for the Kent weather! Sturdy footwear, layers, waterproofs, hats and refillable drinks bottles are a must.
