Making Fabric Bowls with Friends, with Judith Epstein Williams

Using the Goodness Bowl pattern by Jean Paccagnan, spend an evening learning to sew these fun, addictive, and lovely bowls. The technique is similar to English Paper Piecing, and it makes for a very portable project. These bowls are so much fun to personalize and make as gifts. Betcha can’t make just one!

Class cost includes a $25 kit with the following items:

- Original Goodness Bowl Pattern by Jean Paccagnan, which includes master templates to make bowls in seven different sizes and Jean’s clear, well written instructions, with lots of pictures.
- Enough Pellon Peltex 70 stabilizer to make at least one small bowl.
- Selection of fabrics from my stash
- Selection of polyester threads
- Pattern for one small bowl template set printed on cardstock
- Use of transparent templates for fussy-cutting

In addition attendees will need to bring the following:

• • Hand Sewing needles
  • Fine line fabric pen or soft lead pencil.
  • Fabric scissors and snips
  • Fabric glue stick and refills. (Judith likes Sew Line or similar).
  • 6 Wonder clips
  • Any fabric that you would like to use or share to make bowls*. I’m bring a nice selection as well which you are welcome to pull from.
  • Coordinating Polyester thread. (Cotton is not strong enough)

Note on fabric: Get creative! There is no need to limit yourself to quilting cotton. Silks, vintage linens, corduroy...bold prints, animal print, stripes and plaids…as long as the fabric Is pliable enough to fold over an edge and adhere with glue stick.

The Venue

We are trying something new! Maren Larsen, SFQG former President and member, has kindly agreed to hold this workshop at her house. This helps us keep the costs lower but does mean that all attendees need to be ok climbing a staircase of steps up to her front door. She lives in Outer Sunset and the exact address will be shared with you once you have registered.
