Memories of Mambo Inn: Closing Event (PAGE/STAGE/SPACE)

Did you used to dance at the Mambo Inn? For one night only Mambo Inn co-founder and resident DJ Gerry Lyseight will return to play a mix of Mambo Inn classics at San Mei Gallery in honour of the building’s former life.

The Mambo Inn was a club sensation: At its peak it ran weekly on Fridays and Saturdays at the Loughborough Hotel in Brixton, South London and had to turn away hundreds of people every night. The Mambo Inn’s musical repertoire included “a hot mix of Latin, African, Jazz” and beyond. The nights featured live bands and guest DJs such as Gilles Peterson, Dr. Bob Jones, Jo Shinner, Ross Allen, Sue Steward, Patrick Forge, Jon More (Coldcut), DJ Ritu and Gaz Mayall.

Free and open to everyone – come for music, dancing and food, whether you’ve been before or not!

This event has been organised in conjunction with the exhibition PAGE/STAGE/SPACE curated by motor dance journal.
