Reggie Watkins - Upstairs on the Main Stage

Reggie Watkins has released four recordings as a leader and has appeared on many others. In 2003, Watkins was chosen as a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. From 1999 to 2006, he served as trombonist and musical director for trumpeter and bandleader Maynard Ferguson, and later performed alongside Grammy-winning pop music icon Jason Mraz from 2008 to 2013. Watkins has performed and recorded with many great artists from various genres, including Aretha Franklin, Dave Matthews, Dianne Schuur, Willie Nelson, Dianne Reeves, Warren Haynes, Roger Humphries, and The Temptations. Currently, in addition to leading his own groups, he is a member of the three-time Grammy-nominated Orrin Evans' Captain Black Big Band, the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra, and is a founding member of the Steeltown Horns.
