Event Details

An enjoyable weekend of beekeeping for SBA members who hold the Basic Beekeeping Certificate, who have been keeping bees for a few years, and who are ready and willing to support novice beekeepers in their area to keep bees well.

The weekend begins on the Friday afternoon at 4pm with a tour of the working farm at Dumfries House, followed then at 5pm when we go 'Under the Microscope and Nosema Testing' . This is free, and optional, for all delegates to attend.

The Saturday and Sunday sees a full program of lectures, workshops and apiary practicals, more details in the Scottish Beekeeper magazine and Events page of the SBA website.

On the Monday morning we have organised a 1 hour tour of Dumfries House itself, which is open to all. Spaces are limited, so please add and pay for this when you book your main ticket.

The SBA shall also be hosting a Train the Trainer workshop on the Monday with Margaret Murdin, NDB, as the main tutor. This can be booked separately via the SBA Events page on the website, click here.

Sunday night accommodation and dinner in the bunkhouse is also available, again please add this to your booking.

Food & Meals

Teas, coffees, breakfast and lunch will be provided to all delegates on the Saturday and Sunday.

Residential delegate tickets will also include an evening meal on both the Friday and Saturday evenings

Anyone staying over on the Sunday and departing on Monday morning will receive dinner on the Sunday evening and breakfast on the Monday morning.

Accommodation

Accommodation is available for those purchasing a residential ticket. This is at the Bunkhouse which comprises separate male and female dormitories with bunk beds for two to eight guests per room. With a variety of extra activities on offer this is going to be the fun place to be.

Directions

The education event is being held onsite at the MacRobert's Rural Skills Centre. Full details will be sent to delegates close to the time to ensure they enter from the correct side of the estate.

Polo Shirts

Following delegates' feedback on waste, this year we are not providing a free polo shirt, but you will have the option to buy a purple ApiScotia branded polo shirt. A lovely keepsake from the weekend. Just select this an option after the booking page and enter your chosen size.
