Calling Croydon residents to be part of Same Street; New Skwod
Celebrate 10 years of Nadia Rose’s Skwod by learning the choreography and starring in a new music video, filmed live on Surrey Street.
Ten years ago, Croydon rapper and songwriter Nadia Rose dropped Skwod, an iconic, high-energy blend of grime, hip hop and dancehall, with a video shot right here on Surrey Street Market. It became a moment for Croydon and beyond. This October, a new generation of Croydon’s young people is bringing that video back to life, and we want you in it.
Join us on Surrey Street for a free, participatory Skwod Dance Workshop. You’ll learn some of the original choreography and then take part in filming the finale of the new music video.
Whether you’ve been dancing for years or have never tried, this is for you. Suitable for all ages and experience levels, just bring good energy. Please note if you want to be part of the music video you will be asked to sign a media consent form on the day. You can participate in the workshop without being filmed or photographed, just let us know on arrival and you will be given a brightly coloured sticker which our media team will be looking out for.
