Timeless Tales: Exploring Musical Landscapes from Mendelssohn to Modernity
Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Christ Lutheran Church, Aptos, CA, 95003
Description
The award-winning Verve Trio performs one of their diverse programs full of variety and contrast. Featuring familiar masterpieces by Shostakovich and Mendelssohn mixed with lesser-known works by Ned Rorem and David Baker, the musical language darts between dark tragedy, scampering anxiety, and cheeky jazz motifs. The 20th-century works play with various forms of dissonance and percussive effects, while the Mendelssohn concludes the concert with a whirlwind of tuneful melodies and classic Romantic gestures.
