Thu 5 Dec 2024 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Western Lecture Theatre, LS3 1HF
Description
The North-Eastern Circuit and the School of Law at the University of Leeds invite you to a thought-provoking Question Time-style panel discussion on the trajectory of the legal profession in an increasingly uncertain world. The panel will explore topics such as how the legal profession adapts to the current societal and economic challenges, why diversity and inclusion in a properly functioning legal system strengthens it and enhances public confidence in the law, and the opportunities for lawyers to shape the future of the legal profession. The panel will be chaired by Mrs Justice Christina Lambert DBE, and the panellists will be Lady Justice Philippa Whipple DBE (Court of Appeal), Susanna McGibbon (Director General, Government Legal Department), Jason Pitter KC (Leader of the North Eastern Circuit) and Alex Batesmith (School of Law, University of Leeds), with questions taken from the floor throughout the discussion.
The event is open to all legal practitioners (solicitors, barristers, legal executives, paralegals), the judiciary and magistrates, academics, students and diversity and inclusion practitioners.
