In this presentation Dr Bell will describe fundamentals of Critical Participatory Action Research, reasons for its creation and ethics of participatory research praxes. A decolonial turn toward engaging in research with historically marginalised community members will also be discussed. Distinctions will be made between Critical Participatory Action Research and westernised modes of Action Research in an effort to address the question, can academics in the global north engage in participatory action research?
