המפגש השלישי בסדרת הסמינרים של סיינסאבאוד אוקספורד ייערך ביום שלישי, 25.3 בשעה 12:00. דר' אמירה הלפרין מהמכון למחקר תקשורת בריטניה-ישראל (BICOM) תספר על מחקרה בנושא הרדיקליציה בקמפוסים בממלכה המאוחדת לאחר ה-7 באוקטובר.

Dr Amira Halperin is a Senior Research Associate at Britain Israel
Communications and Research Centre (BICOM). She is a collaborator with The University of British Columbia Centre for Migration Studies.
Amira is a media expert of Forum Dvorah (women in foreign policy and national security) and international media commentator, in her areas of expertise: Middle Eastern refugees, media and technology, and Palestinian affairs in the Middle East and the UK.
Her pioneering research of the Palestinian community in the UK, was published in a book, titled: ‘The Use of New Media by the Palestinian Diaspora in the United Kingdom’.

Following the aftermath of October 7th and the outbreak of the Iron Swords War, university campuses turned into arenas of political battle and calls for academic boycott have been amplified, as ‘British universities remain a crucible of extremism’ (Combating Terrorism Centre). As of March 2024, 80 international terrorist groups were proscribed under the UK Terrorism Act 2000, and 14 organisations in Northern Ireland were proscribed under previous legislation. In January 2024, the EU Council established a framework of measures that allow the EU to hold accountable any individual or entity who supports, facilitates, or enables violent actions by Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Amira will talk about the terrorist threat in the UK and radicalisation on UK University campuses.
