Science Lates - Amplify

To close our season, we invite you to an evening exploring rhythm, music, and the fascinating physics of sound.

Enjoy live performances, play unique instruments, experiment with foley, try Rubens Tube karaoke, and experience sound in ways you never have before!

Join University of Glasgow nuclear physicist Dr. David Mahon and musician Lomond Campbell as they take you on a captivating journey that celebrates the science and sounds of the muon. Created when cosmic rays collide with Earth’s atmosphere, muons travel through us every day, carrying information that allows scientists to explore hidden structures and uncover secrets deep within our planet. 

Combining cutting-edge research with Lomond’s one-of-a-kind handmade instrument, the Muonophone, Songs from the Cosmos brings these tiny cosmic messengers to life through evolving sounds and immersive visuals inspired by the Universe.

Please note that Science Lates is strictly adults only (18+). If you're lucky enough to look younger than 25 you must bring a valid form of photo I.D. Anyone under the age of 18 or without valid I.D. will be refused entry. Planetarium and Science Shows have limited availability and operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
