Economic inequality is soaring, communities are hollowed out, and the climate emergency accelerates. At the same time, democracy itself is under strain. The power of corporate capital and oligarchs is unprecedented; once constrained by democratic oversight, they now dominate it. The prevailing economic model—extractive, financialized, and globalized—works for the few while failing the many and the planet.
