Pause with the Viewfinder: Slow instant photography and poetry Workshop (Part of the 2026 Geopoetics Gathering)

Sat 24 Oct 2026 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM Cornucopia Unit Four, TD9 9EA

Join Jessie Growden to explore instant photography as a way of pausing to consider what is through the viewfinder, and around it. With only a limited number of exposures, take time with the nature in Hawick’s town centre, experiment with composition, and discover the sometimes unexpected results of pressing the shutter. Take notes as you go and find their poetic flow.

Please bring: a notebook and pen/pencil, and if you have one, an instant camera, e.g. Instax, Polaroid. Instax mini cameras and film will be supplied if you don’t have your own. Be prepared to be outside! Walking distances will be fitted to accessibility needs.

Please bring your own instax mini compatible camera  **or another instant camera type (and if you are then please also bring your own exposures).

The group is limited to 9 people without cameras. There is a place on the checkout page where you can tell us if you are bringing your own camera and we will then increase the maximum participants based on your replies.

We will meet at Cornucopia Unit Four before heading out for the workshop.

The session will be out of doors so please bring clothing and footwear appropriate to the conditions.
