Invitation to crofters to discuss ‘sustainable and regenerative’ agricultural practices and how they can be supported in Less Favoured Areas (LFAs)

The Scottish Government is looking at ways to support ‘sustainable and regenerative’ agricultural practices in LFAs.

Researchers at the James Hutton Institute are consulting farmers and crofters to identify which practices might be considered ‘sustainable and regenerative’ on LFA land and understand the barriers to their use.

Are you crofting on LFA land?

We would like to hear your views on the feasibility of using these practices on your land and what types of support are needed.

The workshop aims to understand what opportunities and support mechanisms would favour sustainable and regenerative practices in LFAs.

The workshop findings will inform the development of incentives for practices in LFAs that deliver outcomes for:

  • Carbon emissions reductions
  • Peatland restoration
  • Tree planting and woodland natural regeneration
  • Biodiversity

Please indicate on your sign-up form which of these areas are of most interest to you.

This event is being run by the James Hutton Institute in association with the Scottish Crofting Federation
