Everybody to Kenmure Street: Film Screening and Solidarity Event

As part of the National Week of Solidarity to End Immigration Detention, join Scottish Detainee Visitors, Glasgow Solidarity Stall and Glasgow Anti-Raids Network for an afternoon of film, discussion and collective action against immigration detention.

We’ll be screening Everybody to Kenmure Street, followed by a post-film Q&A and taking part in writing cards to people currently held in immigration detention.

Everybody to Kenmure Street tells the story of Glasgow residents coming together to stop a deportation on Kenmure Street, Pollokshields. Every day, people are detained under immigration powers and taken away from their families, friends and communities. The effects reach far beyond the person detained: families and communities are left to provide care, rebuild stability and respond to the fear and uncertainty created by detention.

But communities are not simply where the harm is felt — they are places of resistance, care and solidarity. Across Glasgow, people organise to support those facing raids, detention and removal, maintain connections with people inside detention, and build collective power against the systems that divide and destabilise our communities.

This event is an opportunity to come together as part of that collective work: watch, discuss, learn more about immigration detention in Scotland, and take practical action in solidarity with people in immigration detention.

No prior knowledge or experience is needed, and everyone is welcome.
