Team Scotland - Women's Team Open Session Launch
Adding to our Adult Mixed, U15 and U17 squads we are finally adding the Women's Team to the Team Scotland Development Setup.
This squad will be the Team Scotland for Flag Football and it falls under both the Excellence and Development pillars of SCOFF's mission.
The coaches for the squad will be Head Coach/ Offensive Coordinator Alan Young (Former Men's GB Head Coach) and Thomas McDonald (Former Glasgow Killerbees and Paisley Bears Head Coach). For the open session we will also be joined by Richie Moore (Adult Mixed - Team Scotland Offensive Coordinator) and Fraser Thomason (GB Women's Assistant Coach). We hope to add other co
aches prior to the event also.
We want to give female flag football players in Scotland a platform to achieve their potential. From this open session we will select a training squad. The Training Squad will consist of 18 players. 12 of which will travel to Capital Bowl on the 3rd and 4th of July in 2027.
The squad will be built with a mixture of veteran players, players striving to make GB, and young players very early in their journey but all with a shared goal and that is to become the best version of themselves and support others to be the best versions of themselves. We aim to have the travelling squad contain 3 protected spots for U21 players (those born on or after 2005)
For the minimum age clarification players must be born in or before 2009 to be selected to the squad however we will accept players to train at the open session who are 16+ years old at the date of the open session.
Dates for future training sessions planned are as follows:
25th October
29th November
9th January
There will be no February Session and we will plan March and April sessions once BAFA have published their dates. For those selected to squad there will be team calls that interspersed between training sessions. The final travelling squad will be selected after the November training session.
