On 9 October, the Scottish Government announced the launch of a Public Consultation on Developing a Universal Definition of ‘Care Experience’. The purpose of the consultation is to seek views on the need for a universal definition of ‘care experience’ and what the potential impacts of this could be.

The consultation also looks to understand views on wider language relating to care and provide an opportunity to consider a national approach, building on existing good practice, to set the direction for language of care which is nurturing and encouraging to children and young people with care experience.

This is an online consultation event for people with care experience, their families and organisations who support people with care experience to provide an opportunity to –

• Hear more information on why we are consulting and the consultation process
• Take part in discussion and ask questions
• Share views on the development of the definition.
