Four international short films centred on humans, the sea, seasons and navigating nature. 

Waters That Sculpt Fire 

In the middle of a beach, the film follows an introspective and sensorial journey, from the farthest point to the deepest place, from the external world to the emotional system. Upon contact with the sea water, the skin and body transform into a gateway to an inner fissure, revealing a complex emotional portrait manifested as fragments of sharp, broken glass, submerged in the sea.

The Sea Inside Us 

The Sea Inside Us chronicles the human relationship to the sea through salt. What is food without salt? Food without flavour? Life without emotion? There is the remains of an ancient ocean under the countries of northern Europe, a bed of salt that extends from Ireland to Russia. For 10 years Lyons has been tracing this seam making carvings from rock salt of various colours. The film follows the artist into mines 300 metres underground, and across the snow- capped peaks of vast mountain ranges.

Movement Memories 

Movement Memories is an experimental 16mm film that lingers in the quiet gestures and recurring rhythms of daily life. Filmed across the turning of the seasons, it reflects, through brief fragments and seasonal markers, on the shifting landscape and the way memory becomes woven through our everyday movements.

Chalk Compass 

Chalk Compass traces a woman’s passage through luminous thresholds: house, studio, garden, road, windows, stairwells, pools, sea walls - where the body becomes a vessel and compass. Her gestures shift between embrace, contortion and supplication, while chalk circles inscribe paths of protection, navigation and return. Chalk Compass is a video performance artist film. It is edited in the Terza Rima form in a nod to Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy. Filmed entirely DIY, on a smartphone, on location in Margate, Venice, Lake Garda, Delphi and Athens. With thanks to the artist’s grandmother Carmela Cavaliere Tonin, who spontaneously gifted her verses to camera.
