We present a pair of short animated films from BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Paloma Baeza who will be joining us in Tiree. 

Poles Apart

Poles Apart tells the story of an unlikely meeting between Nanuk, a tough female polar bear, and Aklak, an enthusiastic male grizzly bear, brought together by their changing habitats. The lack of food in a melting Arctic has left the solitary Nanuk desperately hungry. When the hopeful and eager Aklak crashes into Nanuk's world, she has to decide if the naive grizzly bear is her food or her friend.

Award-winning stop motion animation, featuring voice talent from Helena Bonham Carter as Nanuk.

Three Hares

This short film weaves the enchanting, mythical and mystical origin story of the ancient three hares symbol into an environmental tale. We follow the fates of three hares - sisters who are children of the sun and moon - who must remind mankind to respect the earth in order to protect their future.
