In this lo-fi workshop, you'll learn how to make experimental cameraless photographic images. Phytograms are made from plants and seaweeds soaked in homemade photographic developer, then put in contact with paper or film. The natural compounds and acids in the plant or seaweed react with the photographic emulsion and light, resulting in unique and unpredictable prints.

Bring some small bits of seaweed, plants or feathers to work with, or we can go out and find some during the workshop.

Kit is a photographic artist whose practice is led by curiosity and ecological awareness. With a background in medical and police photography, she works across analogue, cameraless, and digital processes, drawn to the physical tangibility of photography. The natural world is her constant inspiration, particularly the small, often-overlooked organisms that are vital to ecosystems. Interested in the intersection of art and science, Kit embraces collaboration, participation, and teaching as central to her practice, alongside exploring more sustainable approaches to photography and experimentation.
