Young Industry Session: Drew Roper
Our young industry sessions are for individuals 16-25 in Scotland interested in film. These free online events offer insights into careers, practitioner experiences, and practical advice for entering the film industry. Supported by Screen Scotland.
Drew Roper is an animation director and producer, and founder of Yamination Studios in Birmingham. He began as a freelance animator and model maker and set up the studio in 2009 at Light House Media Centre in Wolverhampton. Working mainly in stop motion, Drew and his team have made work for clients including Coca-Cola and Cravendale, an animated ident for the birthday of Roald Dahl’s The Twits, and production work for Walt Disney. He wrote, directed, and produced the short film At-issue, which combines three animation techniques and premiered on Sky Arts in 2016. He also speaks on industry panels about how animation studios are changing, most recently at The Get Animated Post.
