Write Like a Mother Minneapolis: A One-Day Retreat

Join Scribente Maternum and other writer-moms for an entire day to write. We will spend some time connecting as we introduce ourselves and then we will spend the day writing. This is an entire day where you don't have to think about where your food or coffee is coming from. You can just sit and write. 

If you aren't at a place where you're working on a project and might need some inspiration, we can place you in a small group of others in the same position and provide prompts and ideas to get the flow of ideas going.

About the Space

We will write and retreat at Open Book, a center for reading, writing, and book arts in the Twin Cities. Open Book is a community gathering place, dedicated to diverse and dynamic creativity, conversation, and collaboration, all rooted in the literary and book arts.

Itinerary

• 9:00-9:30am: Welcome and introductions, intention setting
• 9:30am-12:00pm: Write, write, write
• 12:00-1:00pm: Lunch 
• 1:00-3:30pm: More time to write
• 3:30-3:45pm: Closing
• 4:00pm: Optional happy hour at Milly's Bistro & Wine Bar, just down the street
• 5:00pm: Optional event back at Open Book with writer-mom and New York Times bestselling author Maggie Smith

• Time and space to write
• Continental breakfast, coffee, lunch, and snacks. Additional craft coffees are available for purchase from FRGMNT Coffee on-site.
• Bonus: we'll gather for a happy hour at Milly's Bistro & Wine Bar, where attendees will have their own tabs.

Whether you're coming from out of town or you just want a night or two away from the fam to make the most of this retreat, we recommend staying at Aloft Minneapolis, a 2-minute walk from Open Book. We will gather at Milly's after the retreat, which is also within walking distance of the hotel.
