Writing Together as Mothers: New York Area

Join Scribente Maternum and other writer-moms for an entire day to write. We will spend time connecting and setting our intentions for the day, and then we will get writing! Just think - an entire day where you don't have to think about where your food or coffee is coming from, which tasks need to be accomplished, or who needs something from you. An entire day just to focus on you and your ideas.

If you aren't at a place where you're working on a specific project and might need some inspiration, we will also have prompts available and the option for collaboration with writers in similar life or creative situations.

We are pleased to offer two free spots for writers of color. Just select "BIPOC ticket" when registering, while supplies last.

About the Space

We will be meeting at 3C LLC, the filming location of Kitchen on the Cliff in Cliffside, New Jersey. As the childhood home of coordinator Nicoletta LaMarca Sacco, it is also the setting for her mother Giovanna's cooking show (produced by Nicoletta's daughter). It is a beautiful, aging 1880s Queen Anne revival home, and a cozy spot very close to New York City with an expansive view of Downtown Manhattan. This retreat is definitely worth a trip across the river!

Land Acknowledgment: We, the mothers who write and gather through Scribente Maternum, recognize the Munsee Lenape as the original stewards of the land where our mini-retreat is located at 3C LLC in Cliffside Park, NJ.

Itinerary

• 9:30-10:00am: Welcome and introductions, intention setting
• 10:00am-12:00pm: Write, write, write
• 12:00-1:00pm: Lunch 
• 1:00-4:00pm: Write, write, write
• 4:00-4:30pm: Closing
• 4:30pm: Optional dinner at a Turkish restaurant nearby

The price of the retreat includes the space and time to write, a continental breakfast, coffee, and lunch.

In an effort to make our events as accessible as possible, Scribente Maternum offers a tiered pricing model. While the actual value session is valued at the Partner level (and we strongly appreciate anyone who can register at that level!), any amount is accepted and any additional support is appreciated. Thank you!
