Professional Scrum Master – Advanced™ (PSM-A) course is an advanced Scrum Master class designed to support Scrum Masters in their professional development.
It focuses on expanding the understanding of the role and gives participants opportunities to hone their coaching, facilitation, and teaching skills.
This is a very interactive class that encourages students to test their skills and knowledge and ask plenty of questions. The goal is not only to learn advanced Scrum Master techniques, but also find solutions to real-life challenges the students may be facing in their role.

This class will be conducted online using Zoom and Miro. Attendees will receive details to connect to the class 24-48 hours before the class start to the email used during purchase.

Learning Objectives
- Help Scrum Teams deliver value to their organization
- Understand the theory and principles behind Scrum and empiricism
- Understand how each part of the Scrum framework ties back to the principles and theory

- Learn what Done means and why it is crucial to transparency
- Know how to use the Product Backlog to plan with agility

Intended Audience
The PSM-A course is intended for Scrum Masters with at least one year of experience who are looking to grow their knowledge and abilities as a Scrum Master.
Topics Covered
The class goes over some advanced topics in relation to the Scrum Master role and includes:
- The difference between an effective and ineffective Scrum Master
- What makes a successful Scrum Team and how a Scrum Master helps them get there
- What challenges Product Owners face and how a Scrum Master can support them
- How to manage organizational change and work with management
- Getting help in addressing concrete challenges and coaching other Scrum Masters

- Discovering new practices, tools, skills, and stances that make an effective Scrum Master
- Overcoming misconceptions associated with the role
- Connecting the Scrum principles and values to how a Scrum Master makes decisions on a day-to-day basis
- Improving the ability to act as a servant leader
- Reviewing ways a Scrum Master can support Developers and Product Owners to become more effective
- Finding new ways to bring positive change to the organization as a whole
- Provide tips and techniques for the Scrum Master to work with the
rest of the organization in support of their Scrum Teams - Understanding how to support the Scrum Team in delivering Done Increment every Sprint
- Understanding the challenges of middle management
- Connecting with peers and building a community of practice
Certification
All attendees will receive one free attempt at the Scrum.org PSM-A assessment (up to two attempts with conditions).
Schedule
This is a 15-hour class usually done in two days. The timezone is Mountain Standard Time (Denver, Colorado, USA).
- Start on both days: 8 AM MST
- Lunch break: 11 PM – 12 PM MST
- End: between 3:30 PM and 4 PM MST
- Breaks: ~10 min every hour or so
