Description

About the Course

Learn Scrum From Those Who Created and Maintain It

Scrum.org's Applying Professional ScrumTM (APS) is a hands-on course that provides the foundational knowledge needed to work with Scrum in a highly practical way. The course is a combination of instruction and team-based exercises. During the exercises, students work in Scrum Teams over a series of Sprints to learn Scrum while using Scrum. They experience first-hand how the Scrum framework improves their ability to deliver value compared to traditional methods.

During the class, students experience Professional Scrum. They experience new, agile ways of working that enable teams to deliver more value, satisfy stakeholders and work better together. Students work together as a team in a series of Sprints to build a product, facing the same problems they face outside of class and learning how to use Scrum to address them.

Through a combination of instruction and exercises, you’ll learn the underlying theory and principles of the Scrum Framework with a focus on the role of Scrum Master and how Scrum can help manage changing priorities, increase productivity and accelerate product delivery. In addition, you'll be provided techniques and tools to facilitate behavioral change and cultivate servant leadership.

APS is designed to be industry and domain agnostic, and no software development experience is necessary. During the simulated Sprints students will build a product unrelated to software development.

Three Day Part-Time Course

What is the difference between a two-day full-time class (whether in-person or virtual) and a three-day part-time class?

We cover ALL the same materials, and the class is consistent with the high-quality standards set by Scrum.org. Because the class is delivered virtually, many students appreciate the shorter days. At the end of the three days you receive:

  • The same high-quality content;
  • A manageable schedule that creates higher engagement and learning for you;
  • An opportunity to accommodate other commitments you might have at home or at work;

Zoom and Mural will be used to facilitate the activities. You'll receive a wealth of materials and dozens of techniques you can take back and use with your Scrum Teams right away to be an effective Scrum Master.

The Applying Professional Scrum (APS) is appropriate for anyone working on or with a Scrum Team. The course is especially well-suited to companies, teams, or individuals investigating Scrum, those who are currently struggling with Scrum, or those beginning to utilize Scrum.
