The Rycroft Rugby Rumble

Join us on the 12^th April 12.30pm – 4pm at Old Colfeians Rugby Football Club, London, for a family fun day.

This is an opportunity to meet and form connections with other people affected by SDS, raise awareness and remember Rycroft.

Old Colfeians is a family-oriented club, and on the day there will be games to play, a bouncy castle and a big garden to explore, as well as rugby matches to watch, or if you're feeling brave you could get a team together and take part. 

The money raised for SDS UK from The Rycroft Rugby Rumble will fund SDS Research.

"Our baby boy Rycroft died at Great Ormond Street Hospital in June 2023. He was 16 months and two days old. When he was diagnosed at three weeks old with Shwachman-Diamond syndrome (SDS), the implications were stark. There was no cure and even at that early stage, we knew that Rycroft might live a shorter life because of it. We hoped with all of our hearts that we would get more time with him. But we never got to see him take his first steps. We never got to see him ride a bike ,or hear about his first day at school. The list of moments taken from us by SDS is too long and painful to contemplate. 

But now we have the chance to change things for other families touched by SDS.

We want to raise money to fund research, which could include an exciting breakthrough treatment that Professor Alan Warren of Cambridge University has made. This novel therapy that shows incredible promise for both children and adults with SDS. This is not just hope; it's a tangible opportunity to save lives."

If you fundraise £200 for Super Rare, our annual fundraising campaign, that takes place in Feburary and March, you'll earn your Super Rare t-shirt! Plus this year we’ll also display your name next to your chosen Rugby shirt in the Rycroft Collection.

The Rycroft Collection is a collection of rugby jerseys that Andrew, father of Rycroft has amassed over the years, made up of; teams he has played for, teams he has played against, teams from League and Union, countries and competitions across the world. And in pride of place in the collection are the 20 RYCROFT jerseys, made and worn with pride for The Rycroft Rugby Rumble 2024 in his honour. The Rycroft Collection will be on display on the day.
