Introduction to Plate Lithography Weekend Workshop with Wilhelmina Peace 
Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November 10am-4pm each day 

This course focuses on the basics of Aluminium Plate Lithography, using pre ball-grained aluminium plates. This is suitable for beginners, or also people with Stone Lithography experience, who would like a refresher on the techniques, on which there are a lot of crossovers. This will appeal to people who enjoy drawing and mark making, and is there perfect medium for bringing drawings to life through print. It is a very direct method allowing for expressive mark making, merging drawing with printmaking and the ability to edition your work. 

The first day will focus on the preparation of the plates, and drawing your design using a variety of mediums to include crayons, washes and inks. You will then learn how to process the plates, using multiple etches to ensure the stability of the drawing on the plate. 

The second day will focus washing out the plate, printing an edition, playing with colour. 
Please bring some reference drawings and ideas with you. The plate size you will be working on will be roughly 22cm x 25cm. 

Your Tutor:

Wilhelmina Peace is a French-American visual artist currently living and working in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Cultural Anthropology from Queens University as well as a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art Printmaking from the Belfast School of Art at Ulster University.

In 2018, Wilhelmina became a member of the groundbreaking artist-led initiative, Vault Artist Studios, where she holds her studio alongside over a hundred other artists spanning all creative disciplines. Wilhelmina received the Seacourt graduate award, and is now working and teaching with us. 

If I can't attend can I get a refund?

What if the course is cancelled?

We reserve the right to cancel the course for any reason (for example, insufficient bookings). We will endeavour to give at least 7 days notice if the course is cancelled and in the event of cancellation we will, of course, issue you a full refund. Please refer to full terms and conditions here.

Accessibility

Our aim is to bring printmaking to as many people as possible. By their nature, some printmaking processes involve an amount of physical effort. Seacourt Print Workshop is on street level, and is accessible through the front doors in a wheelchair. It is fully wheelchair accessible, larger than standard doors and disabled toilet facilities.
