Join me in the sea for a 3 x weekly introduction to sea swimming.

Tuesdays 2, 9, 16th June from 11 - 12 noon

You'll need to complete a pre-swim form and you must be able to swim 100m unaided (the sea is not the best place to learn to swim!)

A social, happy group, these sessions are designed to get you loving the freedom of swimming in the big blue as much I do!

Learn the basics of sea swimming.

Come along and swim in company, there's no time like right now. Let's start you off!

Get more knowledgable and confident. We'll spend some time talking on the land and then we'll swim together (no hurry, no hullabaloo).

My style of coaching is about being relaxed, learning new skills, practising, encouraging each other and above all feeling the joy of swimming. If you've been wanting to get in the sea but didn't feel you had enough knowledge, this is for you.

Time in the water will depend on how you're feeling. No pressure. Ask me if you aren't sure.

Coryton Cove, Dawlish.
There is parking on Marine Parade (GoRingo app, or the machine). Walk away from the station, over the pedestrian railway bridge, turn right past the toilets and the beach huts, and I'll meet you on the slip way on the beach, by the cafe.

You'll need:

  • Swimming costume or wetsuit if you prefer - or whatever you want to swim in!
  • Brightly coloured swim hat  (you can borrow)
  • Goggles.
  • Water shoes/booties (you can borrow)
  • Tow float (you can borrow)
  • Towel and warm clothes to change in to after (loose is easiest)
  • Warm clothes to layer up. Bring an extra hoodie or jumper.
  • A warm drink and maybe something sweet to eat
  • A bag to carry your wet stuff home!

If you haven't got any of these items let me know, I have spares of most things - really don't go buying new things!

This session is led by Karen Marshall, STA Level 2 Open Water Swim Coach & Surf Life Saving GB Open Water Rescuer, and Swim Teacher

NB - if the weather is dreadful, sea conditions aren't safe or if there has been a pollution warning we may have to either postpone or change beach. If this happens I will send you a text message.
